who, and what we are

The northwest resistance is rooted in a philosophy and attitude we identify with the Pacific Northwest. A place where we cherish the belief that anything is possible. There is an attitude of discovery, independence and expression here.  We celebrate the idea of community. The DIY ethic is embraced.  The Northwest Resistance is a small group of creatives designing t-shirt graphics that honor, promote and have fun with ideas about the north left part of the continent. We love it here. Its funny and weird and beautiful, and it feels like you can do anything.  We are inspired by the feeling of potential.

We define this state of mind by a history rich in cults, eco-activism, majestic landscapes, political freedom, tolerance, crafters, knitters, survivalists, rv's, strip clubs, communes, hippies, home brew, organic standards, counter culture, wood industries, flannel, grass roots ethics, tolerance, consciousness, camping, rain, big foot, nudists, fairies, naturopathy, homelessness, veganism, sustainability, hydroponics, mold, mushrooms, yoga, meditation, nutria, bio-diversity, the right to bear arms, kombucha, and bicycles, sprinkled with a hint of crystal meth.

the fine print: we're a 4 week summer class called artd463 Communication Design at the University of Oregon.  The idea is that artists and designers of the place they are designing about makes for smart ideas and good design.  We will develop the brand, create visual identities for the brand, design shirt graphics, and then produce shirts available for purchase in fall of 2011.
